Very sad to hear this news, I first made contact with Bob through a Google search as I tried to sort an electrical problem with my bandsaw. He came to my rescue and offered to call in, only then did I find he was a near neighbour !! He replaced the motor and on later occasion helped add a motor and vfd to a bare Vicmarc lathe I'd bought on the Internet. He happily gave his technical advise and help, payment was only ever a bottle of wine.

Hi all

Just passing on the news that Bob Minchin, ( Myfordman, 9fingers ) sadly passed away on Christmas day.
This is so sad. He was such kind and generous man. He was the reason I started using this chat room. I had an old 3 phase Graduate I wanted to use. He provided me with a transformer which converted mains to 3 phase and made it a variable control. I went to collect it from his home near Southampton. He was so hospitable. He had a fabulous workshop with a range of machines, computers etc.
He advised me on how to take power to my workshop.
Later when I had problems with the 3 phase motor we went through all the fault finding stages and his advice sorted it out.
I always enjoyed his wise contributions on here, I’ll miss him.

That is very sad. I recall so many useful and friendly posts from him on this forum.

Condolences to his family and friends.
