John and Janet are holidaying in Australia; but shortly after they arrived here, Janet fell and broke her hip joint. See http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au ... hp?t=38547 . Fortunately they have found accommodation in Sydney with relatives of a member of the Australian Woodowrk forum, and Janet is making good progress with her recovery in hospital. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Devon,

Best wishes for a speedy recovery for the good lady wife.

Our thoughts are with you both John, Hope the Cross Stitch Queen is able to make use of the down time and recovers well enough to continue with the planned stay.

Best wishes to Mrs DW. I can't help but think that with the state of the NHS here I would rather be in hospital down under than here (hope that is not too political)

6 month holiday wasn't it - plenty of time for RnR then.

All the best and hope you can enjoy the rest of your stay down under.

Andy

DW from the posts on the Aussie website - they are looking after you well. Hope your wife is receiving the same good treatment in the hospital.
Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Just read the aussie site, good on them for their helping of travellers in distress and want to add my wishes for a full recovery to theirs and ours from this side of the pond.

Just like to add my wishes for a speedy recovery to those already here.
Get well soon, Mrs DW, and enjoy the rest of your holiday.

I have signed in as devonwoody in oz

Thank you for all your kind replies re Janets unfortunate accident but I am really pleased to say that she is making a remarkable recovery.

Thirty hours after her operation of a complete replacement hip joint (two pieces) Janet has started walking again with the aid of a wheelie frame.
We were also able to sit together today on chairs for over 7 hours.
The nursing staff are quite chuffed to have a pomme patient and Janet does not recieve anything but kindness from all the staff.

Our Australian friends have also done us proud, we have been given great hospitality and assistance from our host Alexs in Sydney, and Wongo and his relatives have made us welcome to their home when Janet is discharged from hospital. Other members have also expressed their offer of assistance for later in our Australian extended stay.

Thanks again for your kind words and if you can, please respond on the Australian forum your thoughts on their good deeds.

John

Sounds like you are in good hands DW.

I hope Mrs DW keeps up the speedy recovery, don't spend to much time in the Aussie workshops you won't want to come home.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Les

Janet is still getting 5 star treatment in Oz, She was transferred to Greenwich Hospital Sydney Rehab unit, which has hydro pool etc.
Friends in Oz are still giving us marvellous and generous support with offers of requests to visit and stay when Janet is discharged.
Its great to be among friends in both Oz. and UK.
