Does anyone have any experience of this saw bench, and is it any good.

Hi Nellist - & welcome.

I have that saw, and have a thread under the general woodworking section regarding the dust extraction.

It's not a bad saw. Noisy. Not super accurate. Dust extraction is poor (trying to improve it at the moment). Mine required a fair bit of tinkering to get the various elements in alignment.

But for the cash it performs ok. Not too good if you're going to be working with thick hardwoods - anything upto 1" ok, but over that it struggles.

Its main advantage is being able to fold away for storage or easy transportation.

HTH. Let me know if you have any further queries.

Cheers

Karl

Thanks Karl, doesn't sound as if it will be any use to me I regularely resaw 5" stock with my old Makita 8" sawbench it will even tackle Oak.I was looking for a 10" saw for a bit more capacity and easy storage.

Hi Nellist, I have this saw and I think its dead on apart from a few niggles. Dust extraction isn't great, but it does the job if you don't mind removing the hose and clearing it the odd time. I spent ages tuning mine, fitted a good blade which is now perfectly square to the table. The rip fence is a lot better than some I've seen on site saws and mine is prefectly parallel with the blade. The blade rise/fall and angle is plastic ratchet type and although its fine at the minute, it'll probably wear over time and cause a few probs. I also expect the brushed motor to pack in at some point in the future, but I'm sure I'll be ready for an upgrade by then.

The stand is sturdy enough despite being folding type. Build quality overall is decent given the price of the saw. The table appears to be pressed steel and mine is covered with what appears to be an epoxy powder coating. Was a bit dubious about this, but it seems ok; its flat and stable and is easy to clean.

I use mine in the workshop, but for use as a site saw it's as good as any you're going to get in this price range and it's portability is a big bonus.

The mitre fence is quite good as well, its accurate (after adjustment) and is head and shoulders above the naff plastic ones I've seen with other saws. I use mine on the router table as well.
