If it's integrated to the same database it shouldn't be a problem. If it's not integrated, then it would be best practice to reserve stock for the e-commerce site.

Yes I agree, didn't think of that. I was recalling an experience where I bought something on-line, which couldn't then be supplied because one of the sales people had sold it on a phone deal.
