My 1/2" Erbauer router died yesterday in the middle of a job of course. I only use it occasionally for DIY stuff. I have it mounted in a shop made table with a Kregg plate. Looking around many seem incredibly expensive such that my pocket hurts just at the sight of them.
There are two 1/2" Rutlands routers at a price I'm willing to pay: the R70 and R80. Does anyone have any experience of these?
TIA
Martin

I bought the R70 "Factory Special" a few weeks ago, £80 + IIRC £7 postage, so far only used it for one job. cutting 8 mortices x 1/2" in some 70x70mm bed posts, it's adequate, certainly powerful! breezed through the mortices with a 1/2" diameter Erbauer cutter. The fence is a bit naff, and the guide rods are slightly misaligned with the receiving holes in the base, but it's not once a blue moon I'll use the fence, preferring home made jigs.

I have 3 Hitachi M12v routers, all over 30 years old and with various ailments, hence the purchase of the R70. was it worth £87? yeah I think so, time will tell but so far so good.
