Hi All,
We are Titman Tip Tools and to help all that use router cutters please send us your routing questions/problems and we will do our very best to help. This info is free and will be answered only through ukworkshop so others can learn.

And don't worry we won't bombard you and try to sell you anything.

What are you old cynics doing with those handbags?
Yes they are a company who sell and manufacture router bits among other things. They are offering advice to all who want it and probably would be happy to sell you some stuff. So whats the problem?

I think it's great that you've offered to sponsor this forum in this way. Your financial help will go towards helping Charley keeping the site going. Well done.

That is what's happening here, isn't it?

surely every member here is offering advice to all who want it - most of us dont make a production about it

what they are doing is advertising their company at the forums expense without paying for an advert

thats the problem

They have only made one introductory post they are a well respected British company why not postpone judgement until they show what they are made of ? At the forums expense implys a detrimental effect a little early to judge isn't it?

Indeed, by all means get involved but establish a good 2 way relationship and pony up the dough for adverts

Who looks at the adverts? If they provide good info or promotional offers great. If it is a big advertising scam they will be Modded

You might not look at them Tom. But they pay for this site to exist.

All down to and up to the elusive Charley. Posting could lead to advertising.
I am happy to make use of their specialist knowledge.
Would the response have been the same had it been Wealden?
Noticed an advert for Tornado cutters up top your fave company they don't post much though  .

I think it would have been the same response if any company had posted in the particular way Titman have. We do have representatives from companies that regularly post and we welcome them as a great asset. But they didn't turn up with the kinda smash and grab methodology of Titman. The way Titman have worded their post makes it seem like a sponsored service. As opposed to someone like woodfinishman (Ian) who genuinely joins in with posts, answering questions as and when they arise. It's more personal. I'm all for Titman joining in with the forum. But if they want to advertise, then there are way in which to do it. Whilst they have stated that they are not trying to sell anything, the competition link in the signature is a blatant advertisement which I take exception to.

So my suggestion to Titman is to withdraw all the logos and advertising and join in with the forum. Otherwise, pay for a banner and help the forum to continue to exist.

But then they say that they're not trying to sell anything  ...and if you believe that one... - Rob

If the questions "will be answered only through ukworkshop so others can learn" then why can't the questions be asked on the forum rather than having to be sent to them?
If I were a cynic I might think the reason could be that the contact details were being gathered for marketing purposes.

exactly - if we want our router cutter questions answered we can just post of the forum and have them answered by a range of knowledgeable people including people like ian, and tother ian, nick, and matthew etc - if tipman want to join and join in with that then great

but why act like they are doing something special, or want the questions sent to them rather than just posted on the forum.

and as to the other point i dont care whether its tipman, wealedn , tornado or whoever , my response is to what they are doing not who is doing it.

So, like I said, call me an old cynic, but....

Come on Titman, I had a look at your site and I think you've got some good products, do as Wizer has suggested and join in and you may have another group of loyal customers

Can you do nothing in this world

To all you cynics (and there seems to be a few)

The advice will be offered free so why should we pay to offer expert service and advice. Of course if it were an application that needed a specific cutter we would refer to it in our part numbers and sizes. This does not mean you have to purchase Titman and we would not refuse to help any more. Of course we hope that you would consider Titman we are not silly.
Titman Tip Tools have always given free technical advice on our telephone lines so why not try and embrace the internet as a media.

As for gathering names, we are a manufacturer in the UK (the only one who Manufactures a full catalogue range) and we operate totally within the law.

If you don't belive us don't use this service and leave it to people that would like real advice.

Kind regards
Titman
