Morning Everyone...

Just a little bit of advice really.....

I need to get a recommendation for a decent 1/2" router and a mitre chop saw. I've done a fair bit of research but it's always good to hear from people who have actually got the kit and have used it.

Obviously festool are probably the best i can get but after the battering my wallet's taken over Xmas i'm a bit restricted. I can go up to about £200 on the router and £300 on the chop saw.

Also, any decent tool sites would help as well....i've looked on its london and toucan tools but i don't get that much bang for my buck at either of them.

Cheers for the help and a happy new year to all....

Jim

I don't think you can go far wrong with any of the Dewalt tools, their 1/2" router is excellent. I would also recommend Trend for routers and I have to say the Triton looks a nice router too. (Good prices at B&Q so I understand ;))

Mitre saws, depends on the size you require. I have not had much experience with many makes. Again the Dewalt saws a good (IMHO) and Makita seem pretty good.

I have not had good experience with Bosch although I think I was just unlucky. very good customer service from them though.

It's funny, 'cos normally I would disagree with the Dewalt reccommendation, but in this case both the DW625 and the range of mitre saws are great. The only tools that they do produce of any note since moving to china, as I understand.

However, for the router you could also consider a makita 3612, the triton is great, and I get on with it upright, but some folk prefer it in the table. However, if I was you I would look for a second hand Elu 177. I have been using mine this week, and it really is a great bit of kit. Very similar to the DW 625.

I have just sold my mitre saw as I am getting on better with the RAS and cannot justify (ie afford) both. It was a makita, and I bought it 2nd hand from a workmate, 6 or 7 years old, and it performed like new, so reccommended also.

I have both bosch and triton routers both good triton brilliant in a table the bosch is better for plunging and general use.

chop saw I have the bosch GCM 10 SD probably a bit out of your budget but a excelent saw if you can go to the cost I would say do it.
