Router table top

Am I the only one who uses kitchen worktop off cuts for router table tops?
I find they can be picked up for next to nothing and are nice and sturdy.
Have they gone out of fashion?

I've just pick one up from freecycle, blue marbling but just the right size

I used one on norms table but had to lip the ends and seal the hole cut for the plate also i altered the fence to clamp to the top, all this to stop damp getting into the top and distorting it probably not worth the extra trouble.

OLD,
No distortion or trouble with the fence on mine that is over 16 years old now.I lipped all of the edges with Mahogany, as you can see by my pictures, (the link).
