Hi all
I have a Festool OF1010 for freehand routing but never have owned let alone used a router table, although time and time again I come across situations which would undoubtedly be easier in a table.

I know there are several threads on router tables here, but as I have never used one I wonder if those who’ve used various types could advise me in purchasing a system.

Budget is £1k for everything - router and table / lift etc. But I could stretch the budget to Incra /Jessem as I want to buy once and buy right.

What advantages does an Incra or Jessem system have over say a Kreg table + Triton router (which itself seems to also receive universal praise) ?

I am very late to the woodwork game, after first lockdown. Shielding meant I have been pretty much locked away since. I had a small bench, and fancied trying my hand at extending a wine rack I'd previously bought.

Purchased a Kreg bench top table, and fashioned a plate out of perspex to mount my 18v Dewalt router to the underside. Issues I had were the fence being short, and difficult to align, top being too small to balance work pieces on, inability to change bits from above, and although I could "twist" the router in the holder to move it up and down it was far from precise. Not a full sized table, mind you.

Recently bought into the Incra system, table, lift, AUKTools motor, LS Positioner (17" version), and have to say the difference is beyond belief. Only been testing it so far, trial runs at mortise and tenon, box joints, blind dovetails, and frankly, I am astonished at the accuracy of the system.

Of course, I am not comparing like for like, one being bench top, the other standalone, but it's a bit like comparing a 1.25 duratec Fiesta from 2002 to a brand new RSQ8.

Thanks - I wonder if the full size kreg system would be better. I won’t be using the system for dovetails so that use case is ruled out for me
