Router Speed Controller

Has anybody got a UK source of a router speed controller? I have DeWalt half inch fixed speed (20,000rpm) router (DW624) and I need to get the speed down to 12,000 for a mitre lock cutter bit.

Could you use a dimmer switch?

Probably! However with a router with a 1600watt rating and most dimmers wit a max 400w rating, I am a bit nervous!!

Mine is from an Electrolux upright floor sweeper. At one time a lot of 'uprights' used a speed controller built into the handle.
Try local repair shop, Google for spares etc.

I made a speed controller as an apprentice project, back in the 70's, they were a popular bit of kit as most of the drills around were single speed.
I wonder if Maplin do a kit for one?
