This was the first project I made when I moved into my new flat. The aquarium I made of 10 mms glass glued with aquarium silicone adhesive.
The measurements are 120 x 70 x 30 cms.
I reinforced the brick wall by cutting the section under the aquarium and casting concrete into a mould reinforced with rebars.
The side doors hide the electrics and the aquarium plumbing. The top panel was inspired by the art deco rising sun.
The pump is hidden with a three side panel, the plastic tubing runs through a chasing in the wall.
I used teak for most of the project, finished with satin finish polyurethane varnish.

Cold water fish?

Good sized filter. Is that one which you can clean the filter with the 3rd outlet. Very convenient, I clean my parents pond when I'm down. Hate to think what it's like now as I haven't done it since march!!

Cheers James

Hi James
It a wet and dry filtration system, very easy to maintain,..clean the filter every six months.
At the moment I’m stocking it with cold water fish as the lockdown has made it almost impossible to restock.
Regards,
Richard

Wow this is really impressive. I have one question, how do you clean the glass? For years we had a tank with a fish that seemed to live forever and I regularly had to clean the tank. Even with easy access it was hard to reach the bottom and get it a clear as yours is.
Cheers
Martin

Hi Martin,
I have a few algae feeding fish which keep most of the algae under control....nevertheless I use a magnetic cleaner which has served me well for years. The filter is a bit of an overkill for the size of the aquarium, but the initial idea was to keep it to a low maintenance ,that’s why I went for it,and it has worked well.
regards,
Richard
