Hi everyone, looking for a respirator than is suitable for use when welding, spraying and general use fine dust etc, would prefer one with replaceable filters, not too bothered if they use filters for a specific purpose as they can be swapped as necessary, anyone have a particular brand/type they can suggest, cheers,

Look at the 3M 7500 range, the out port is down facing so your googles won't fog up and they have a range of replaceable filters for different use.

May be difficult to get one of those inside a welding helmet.

Good point but that is true of most respirators, sorry MikeJhn, I assumed that you were torch welding with googles. They can be quite low profile with the disk filters on but I suspect as you say, they will be difficult.

I would just get the 3m 4251 stuff ( the filters aren't replaceable for it) but it costs around 15 for a very very solid mask.
I find that I wear out/make the masks dirty/rough them up pretty much in the same rate that I use up the filter thats inside in it , + when painting you are bound to get paint on it. So I would rather just get a totally fresh mask once in a while instead of using dirty one but with new filters.

I have been using 3m 4277 ones that i acquired a few years ago and they are great but i'm down to my last one, might just stick with these but at around £20 a time i could get another using the replacement filters which only work out at a fiver a go for a pack of filters, i will have a look around, thanks for the info,

look for ebay auctions? I used to get them that way, People sell packs of those and they usually cost 7-10 a piece when you buy like 3-4 at the same time. Can't really be bothered myself with changing the filters at that price, rather have a nice fresh mask.
