I am needing to fit two pipe brackets, (preferably chrome or brass) to the above shown heated towel rail. I have painted on picture where brackets need to fit to the pipe either side.

In my old age I am finding that I am inclined to grab hold of rail and scared that I will pull the rail out of its floor fitting and be scolded.

The chrome pipe is 25.4mm diameter or old inch size, and the inside of pipe is 92mm from the tiles.

The Screwfix catalogue only shows 22mm pipe brackets.

Can any plumber please tell me where I can get these fittings

" in my old age" - bloody **** DW you are a crabby old git

Do you open conversations with " I'm 95 you know!"

I have no plumbing knowledge but I'd go for four - two down each side - is the wall strong enough for good fixings ??

If you put em along the top you won't be able to dangle your towels over the rail

Very very very strange

These towel radiators should have been fixed to the floor as well as to the wall.

So what happend to the wall brackets??

As where to put the brackets?, please see the picture below

As you can see the brackets are to be put on the side (click on picture to enlarge photo)

As to where to get them, try Plumbase or Plumworld

Lurker: Not that many months to get to 95 :) Many more the other direction.

Mc.Luma, Many thanks I tried Plumworld but they only have the 22mm same as Screwfix, the other mob are internet only, sent off an email but not hopeful.

So still looking.

I think you may have to make some from hardwood, plumbing has been metric for a long time.

22mm pipe brackets will fit, metric pipe is measured to the inside dia and has an OD that is just a fraction larger than 1".

Hi DW, other than Jason's good advice pipe clips for malleable steel pipes will fit snugly, these are readily available at plumbers merchants, hth

Rich.

Are you sure Jason? 1/2" copper is 1/2" I/D 15.xx O/D so if it's rubbed down well can be joined with a 15mm fitting. 22mm Copper can be push fit joined to 22mm plastic but the Plastic I/D is much smaller than copper due to the thicker wall. I think you may have got it crossed over somehow?

Alan

Dame, you are right. Metric 22mm copper pipe has a fractionally larger diameter than the old 3/4" copper pipe, not 1"

But 3/4 barrel is just over 25.4mm so the mallable iron brackets will fit.
