BB, it worries me that you're wandering on the face of the 'net looking for the pretty mushrooms... Something you want to tell us? :D

At the risk of ribald comment, the discussion on low knobs is an interesting one. I notice a mention of John Brown's "stuffing", which may move me to hunt out the article and look at my #7 with evil intent... Hell's teeth, but this is addictive.

Cheers, Alf

Sorry, I was picking up the ball and running a bit there... Nuno Souto's post mentions the infill-style knob, but JB had a #8 (IIRC) that was stuffed front and back. Not unlike your link but still using the depth and lateral adjustments on the Bailey frog. I'll see if I can find it, brave the wrath of GGW and put up a scan of the pic.

Cheers, Alf

How's this for speed of service? Apologies for no thumbnails, but I reckon you can cope just this once:

Anytime GWW want to publish a collection of JB's articles I'll be first in the queue. Two #8's? The man's a galoot's galoot.

Cheers, Alf

Hmm. Both planes suffer from the same problem. They don't have the (much touted) wooden bedding of a "true" infill.

Anyway - we know what the ultimate plane is now. It's a Holtey #98, or at least something similar :D

Err; given recent favourable comments on LV bevel up planes, I thought my "something similar" would be easily understood :)
