Hammerite smooth has a green paint, don't know how close it is but usually it goes on easily without brushmarks.

Have an older Nutool lathe than the one I am using someone
used it for wet turning & all the motor casing is rusty so I am
about to use the green hammerite as it is supposed to suppress
the rust as well as look a lot better...

I do quite a few graduates.
First strip it down and power wire brush all over (cup brush in a angle grinder) then hand sand with emery cloth. fill any chunks missing with body filler, sand after,
then use hammerite grey hammer finish and apply with a small foam roller.
Then touch up in hard to reach places with a brush ( stippling action)
perhaps do 2 coats with 2 hours between
Power brush the bright areas, power sand the flat lands and alls done
