Hi Folks,

I picked up an old Record #735 plane for $NZ3 (around 1.25 UKP) recently. I bought it out of curiosity and in the hope the handle (tote) might fit a handless No.03 I'm doing up for my daughter.

The plane came without any blades - probably a good thing as I hear they're absolute cr#p anyway.

So the tote does fit the No.03.

But wait, there's more. The knob fits the side threads on my T5 Jack (my T5 came without the shooting handle).

But wait, there's still more. The attachment thumbscrews fit the thumbscrew hole on my 043 (one was missing).

Okay, so they don't look right - but at least they're genuine Record replacement parts....

Cheers, Vann. (runs for the door...)

I think that you've just pushed up the second hand value beyond the amount you paid!

That's potentially really useful information for those who like Record planes but have no interest in bevelling the edges of softboard.

Someday, someone's going to turn up here and ask 'how do I bevel the edge of a piece of softboard'. Even then, I still don't think the reply would be 'use a 735' :D
