Plough planes have always been awkward beasts to master. I was always taught to use them starting at the end of the workpiece (furthest away from you), and work (plough)the groove backwards towards the front of the workpiece (nearest to you), so your arms are working in a backwards circular motion if you like (obviously with you and the plane facing forward).

Not easy to explain !?! #-o

I can visualise the 'air-planing' that's going on as I type.....

By starting at the far end you cut a "track" for the blade to follow on the next stroke, making it easier to stay "on-track".
Cheers

Yes, you did
It's one of those things that you need to do/see done for the penny to drop.
Best regards

I love my 044. I was lucky and got a complete one w/ the box for a good price a few years ago. You can see it in the upper left corner of this pic.

I like the 044 so much that I bought a second beater recently just because I can always use more than one.

Hey, someone has their own domain...

Wanna open your blog up to those of us who will in all likelihood never have a blogger account?

Then we can bombard you with inane comments...<g>

Take care, Mike

Yeah, I've been wanting to get a domain for a while. I registered and began building a site but haven't done a lot to it yet. I did enable blog comments for non-registered users <g>

I've got a lot of topics that I'd like to blog about but so little time

I don't know Philly manages to hold down a job, turn out some serious projects, blog and play in a band?!

Dave
it's the "Anti-sleep" pills. Work wonders for me......
Like the site - I'll be keeping my eye on it
