Tomorrow? That's the 3rd init? I thought that the 1st was a public holiday? It was here and all are back at work today.

Same last week. Krimbel Day Sunday, work Monday and the world say that the French have all the hols? So back to the grind for us today and we've already been to the bank to get rid of all the botttles, the bottle bank that is, just in case you get confusticated?

With regard to the difference between UK and French Bank Holidays, in the UK, if a Bank Holiday occurs over a weekend, the holiday gets carried over until the weekdays hence England having the Monday and Tuesday off after Chrismas and the Monday 2nd in lieu of Sunday 1st. The poor old French lose out if a national holiday falls during a weekend.

In general, the French have more national holidays than the English (Scotland and NI have different days) with 11 rather than 9. What amazes me is that, with an avowed secular culture, the French celebrate Whitsun, The Assumption, the Assumption of Mary and All Saints Day.

Christmas off work would be nice. I have worked since the end of October without a day off. It will be end of January before i get any time off. However i then have 3 months holiday. Which will be nice.

It only goes to show that in England we need a few more Bank Hols.

Now we are Brexiting, can I suggest one or two to fill in the hole between the end of August and Christmas Day?

How about:-

Trafalgar Day - Celebrate by running round the square (oh and the day we beat the French AND Spanish in one go!) 21st October
St Crispin's Day - Just happens to coincide with the Battle of Agincourt - another victory over the French - 25th October
19th September - Battle of Poitier - another victory over the French
11th Nov would also be a good day to have a Bank Holiday as it might help keep the horrors of war in our minds.

Any other ideas?
