Mmm..what's for pud? Think I'll have that remaining spotted **** from M&S.

Now, let me see...not bothering to put on reading specs.....how long to microwave? 4 minutes. Right..ho. 1.2.3.4 Start.. That should do it.

(wanders off)

Returns 4 minutes later to find kitchen full of thick smoke, a dim orange ominously flickering glow struggling through the gloom to make itself known. You didn't know Spotted **** could burn, did you? Neither did I.

One wrecked microwave later. Put reading specs on. Ah..40 seconds. Oh dear

Hi Roger

ROTFL.

I'm sorry, the important thing is that you're ok.

It tickled me so much because, like you, I also try to read the small print without my glasses.

Cheers

My daughter, several years ago, came in about 10 p.m.,and felt a bit peckish - "Is is okay if I do myself some micro-noodles,dad?"

Instructions :-
1)Add water to fill level
2)Microwave for 3-4 minutes

Well..she managed the second bit

I went racing off into the kitchen when I smelt burning,to find the dry noodles had taken fire, and the plastic pot was melting

They were curry noodles,so it took weeks to get my (at the time) three-week old microwave clean again and get rid of the smoke smell every time it got used.

There's a programme on tv called 'science abuse' where they sometimes feature things you should not put into a microwave - often with explosive results. Just think - it could have been worse :p

I don't know if this would have been applicable, or if it smells of eggs and grannies, but here goes. The simplest way to clean a micowave is to put a mug of water in, about 80% full, and put it onto full power for five minutes. The steam generated means that all you need to do is wipe over with a J-cloth and then dry it with a paper towel.

Bit late now, but it might come in useful.

Cheers

A bit of lemon in the water helps with smells too.

Roger,
chuckle.

What with that and boxing youself into a corner the other week I think perhaps you need (another) holiday?

Hi Roger

Too bad about the microwave but glad to hear you're OK.

I've found that instructions and other information on packets are soooooooo small that even when I've got my specs on, I still can't read'em! What kind of font are they using - a 0.1 size??

I've taken to keeping a magnifying glass handy for kitchen use - sad but true.

Regards.
