Can anyone tell me what kind of joint this is, and will it hold a raised panel together in and external hardwood door. It seems to be separating after just being delivered?

Not really sure but think I would call it a bead edge joint, a kind of tongue and groove that should keep things in line and increase the gluing area.

You can clearly see the join which isn't great, a bigger photo might help see what's going on.

Is it Oak, it all looks a bit rough.

It's sapele. The door is primed, yet to be painted. He also just told me to caulk this gap above the left-hand panel which is 15mm deep. I'm worried about water ingress. This is the second door he's made, the first one the panels split within 3 months because he only biscuit jointed them. Do you think these panels will just split as well? South facing door, no porch, exposed to elements. Thanks for your time.
