Hello Gents,

I hope this is acceptable to ask here - if not then sorry I will delete this if told to (I have tried to look for the rules).

I do not have a spindle moulder & need some door moulding made & I was hoping someone local to Brum can help/would like the job. Ideally they are to match up to the originals as close as possible- see photo. I need 5m for now but have a lot of wickes stuff to replace if funds permit so quote me for 8 door frames too please.

Width = 60mm, Thickness = 20mm.. but I can drop off a sample if need be.

Thanks in advance

Carl is right, but it is _very_ common: almost any decent supplier of 2nd fix timber ought to be able to run up the basic moulding and add a bead to the top.

It might be two passes through the machine, but as you need about 180ft of it (around 18ft per door - allow 22 per door for general mankyness in the timber and the need for long lengths), it's worth their effort.

That just looks to me like a classic grecian bevel with a bead of some sort planted on top.

Don't seem to be able to post links to the wealden cutter.

T7512-1/2 is the one you need :)

EDIT

Found a way around it ;)

Hiya Carl,

You think I could do it easily enough on a small router table with my pretty good 1/2" router then ?

I just thought by the time I got the sectional timber & cutter a moulding supplier would be just as cheap..or not that much more expensive.
No one has quoted me yet for me to make any comparisons with.

Thanks for your help.

I've used Dresser Mouldings in the past http://www.dressermouldings.com/ and always been very pleased with the service and the quality. They have good range of standard mouldings, I am sure one of them will fit the bill.

James

Thanks Jamesc.. I'll check 'em out.

I do prefer to use local tradesmen though or putting a bit of beer money in someones pocket if they have the kit & fancy the job.

When i started out a 'few' years ago, i was with a small building firm here in brum. Think i had been doing carpentry for 2yrs at that point. I matched over different periods of time 3 pieces of skirting. From 4'' up to 12''
So yes you can do it on a router table with the correct bits. The way i see it, you can do it yourself just as easy.
You get to choose the timber, ie few a knots as poss etc.
It looks good on a cv - custom made mouldings etc
You get the satisfaction of looking at the architrave once installed, and can proudly say - i made that :)

If you need a hand give me a shout, brum isn't that big a place ;)

No worries Tog

I can save you a trip, that bit is one Axi don't sell under their own range. They never have. So it will have to be either wealden, trend and nope titman don't do them either.

EDIT
Scrub trend off the list as well.
