Feel a bit guilty posting this up in projects but it was a nice quick job that looks nice and is practical - and scored good swmbo points.

Had a length of ash left over that was probably headed for the stove as it was long and thin, but decided that I had enough to make a small chopping board as the end grain was quite nice. 45mm square chopped into 40mm lengths would give me 16 pieces. Quick bit of work on the P/T, then over to the table saw, glue up, clean up, round over the edges and radius the corners. Threw on some chestnut food safe oil and voila...

I like easy jobs like this

No shame in quick projects - they can be some of the most satisfying.

Nice Work

Cheers, Ed

They are only quick when you KNOW what you are doing, so, 10/10 very nice and thanks for showing.

Regards,

Rich.

It was a lovely piece of ash, it's going to be my practice guitar body before I let myself loose on the mahogany. Another part of the reasoning for finding a home for the offcut was that before I'd cut the board I'd counted the rings in the end grain and even though I didn't have a full half width I'd got 80 rings there. Didn't have the heart to chuck 80-100 years of tree on the fire :)

Nice. Might have to make some of these for xmas pressies.
