I have many Ashley Iles tools & haven’t had a problem with the steel at all, I don’t like their handles but that’s personal taste, I always buy unhandled & turn a Sorby shaped handle as this is the style of handle I prefer & being a turner it seems wrong to be paying for something I’m perfectly capable of doing

They're out of stock of the larger ones atm but the last one I bought was the same price as before covid. I've always made up the money with something else for free P&P.

I tried a Crown cryo for pen turning, as I found casein seemed to take its toll on edges. I was surprised how much better I found it.

I have some Ashley Isles spindle gouges and they are great but I don’t have any bowl gouges. Have you looked at the Simon Hope he carries the Crown Cyro double ended bowl gouges? I have three of them and have to say they are superb. Still prefer my Henry Taylor Superfluts mind but then difference in price!
