Protection against sea air corrosion

Hi all,

A relative living in a warm country near the sea has asked me to buy some car grease, which he uses to coat his ironmongery (balcony door handles, locks, etc.). Otherwise they become rusty and sometimes sieze up.

My question is, is there something better to use for this purpose than general car grease??

T9 is great stuff. I sprayed the internals of my outdoor padlocks and after 10 years they still look and work like new.

acf50 is pretty good too but remains a bit wet. The T9 dries nicely.

Read the SDS on T9 before you start using it. Fantastic stuff but use with caution and make sure you have good ventilation when applying.

Any bike chain or running gear maintenance lube will also do the job, it's meant to be a dry lubricant and leave a film. That said, cyclists also use T9.
