Hi.

I am in the process of building my workshop, (inbetween downpours). Weather forbidding, I shall soon be putting the OSB onto the roof.
My question is, as I have a overhang at each end of the roof, how do I protect the edges and the underside of the unprotected OSB? Do I just wrap the breathable membrane around and under the OSB?

hello Garywayne,
I see youve had no replies yet, so I'll pass on what I was told about your question.

The breathable membrane would be taken to the lower edge of the OSB.(you could take it over the edge & fasten it around the underside of the OSB).
The lower edge of the OSB would then be protected by the addition of a felt flashing, preferably extending it an inch or so past the edge of the OSB to assist in water run-off.
Next the felt tiles are fitted.
Finally the ridge is protected by a felt flashing, applied over the tiles.

I have no knowledge of this matter myself, but got this information from someone familiar with architectural building practices, although not having direct experience of these products. hope this helps, regards, Catface.

I am not sure of the answer to your question, as there are so many variables e.g. by the book or what you think may reasonably do the job. I just thought I would reply to mention make sure you use OSB3 and not OSB2 which is often recomended but nowhere near as durable in a long term outdoor environment.

Thanks Catface.

I take it I do the same thing on the side edge as for the bottom edge.
Thank you for your response.

Alan.

The OSB I am using is moisture resistant.
Thanks for the info.
