Yep, mine.

Recently, OK, before the errr, incident, I found that upon raising my Triton in the table it started to jam before the automatic collett lock engaged.

Well, I had a look today and the cover on top (bottom when mounted in the table) of the router that the spring presses against, was about 1/4" full of compacted dust. The dust falls down the inside of the leg.

The fix is simple, I removed the black top! There is no spring in there as it is table mounted and so the top does nothing. Of course, one could empty it operiodically - maybe twice a year- and then rpelace it.

I am really surprised at this problem arrising as the Triton is clearly designed as atable-mounted router.

Damn I though you was going to sell it

Seriously though this sounds wierd as it clearly is designed for table mounting. How long do you estimate it took to compact in the cover?

I covered this problem and suggested a solution on 17th. June 2005. Here it is.

Ray.

Thought I'd heard of the problem before, I think it's been mentioned once or twice over on the Triton forums

Thanks Tony and Argee.

Having finally received the Mast-R-plate from Rutlands (5 months later!) I am now finishing my routher table which will be using the Triton router :D

It's good to know in advance this kind of potential issues

To be strictly fair to the router, if I had removed the spring - and in doing so left the spring cap off - I wouldn't have had a problem at all, as the dust would have gone straight through. When removing the plunge spring, it's almost a natural action to refit the cap - and the manual suggests doing so - but it will collect dust and this soon gets compacted.

I tend not to remove the spring, as access to my router is so easy I have no problems winding it up to adjust height, or change bits. I use it hand-held a fair amount, so I just leave the spring in.

I've got the Triton MOF001 (1400W) on order, so when that arrives I'll remove the spring on the big one, use that in the table and use the MOF001 for hand-held work. I'm expecting it to arrive early June. I'll let you know what it's like after a bit of use, if that would be of interest?

BTW, by fitting the grommet in the base of the plunge rod I have never had a repeat of the problem. :)

Ray.

Argee, having removed the spring, would you say if I remove the cap (which the manual says to put back) I won't have the problem either?

Yes I am interested to hear about this new Triton router. Although really just out of curiosity as I have my 2 routers now and don't plan to buy anymore  Triton in table and Festool for handheld  :p

:p

This is exactly what I have done and the problem is gone.

Neo, several months

Argeee, sorry, didn't see your original post

Cool Tony, I'll do the same so.

Also, can you help on something else: What type of piping did you use to connect to the dust exhaust on the base of the router?

Cyc I have had a Triton router for about 18 months now and removed the spring straight away and replaced the cap. It has only been removed from the table once to cut circles within circles as it cannot be done on the bandsaw. Put the spring back for the operation and removed it again when put back in the table. I have had no movement problems

Tried the new Triton router at Sywell over the weekend. its only a 1kg lighted than its big brother and lacks about 600W. For me its too heavy as a hand held and I missed the grunt of its big brother. I would not swap it for the big brother in a router table either

what do you use your circles within circles for Barry?

I am making a new cyclone and it joins the cone to the cyclinder and I am making a baffle to reduce the 3HP motor and impellor output
