Evening all,

I have a got a problem with one of my new-ish table saw blades and wondered if anyone could help. I bought a new rip blade from OBAS (or is it OMAS), and getting some wobble in it when ripping timber. Basically every 6-12" or so it will vibrate and cause a width gouge in the wood. This is a real pain in the proverbial as you a) have to make allowance for a wider cut and b) and more importantly worries the hell out of me that it might either grab the timber or break. When turned on and not cutting wood it seems to run true and certainly doesn't wobble. Only happens when in contact with wood.

This does not happen with any of my other blades so have ruled out it being the saw itself so assume it is that blade. Is there anything that can be done or do I need to just write it off. This would be annoying as, as I have mentioned not had it long, but do not feel comfortable using it as it is at the moment.

This leads on to a couple of other questions, if I do need buy a new blade can anyone recommend a good ripping blade, 10".

Also where do people get their blades sharpened, any recommendations.

Kev

Can understand the concern about using a blade that's doing something like this. I would be tempted to send it back.

If it helps, the OMAS 312 and 314 are both 2.2/3.2 in that size, and the 316 is the thin kerf blade at 1.8/2.5

I've had it happen with a thin kerf rip blade, as I got it at a discounted price I just didn't bother using it again.

How much work has the blade done it could be getting blunt which can cause the blade to oscillate.

This and also check you feedrate,

It could well be that your blade cannot move the sawdust, which will build up and gives fibration (then it feels like your blade is dull)

I take it you were ripping, What is th TPI on the blade

The blade is a ripping blade, is it????

Another thought related to the kerf is the riving knife.....you have to use correct blade with the stock knife...if you move outside these limits you need to change the riving knife.
