The problem with youtube is caused by the attempts by Pakistan to block the site. It is believed that in their attempts to block the site, they have hi-jacked the youtube IP addresses and re-routed them - Unfortunately they have redistributed this new fake route to the world's routing tables and broken it for everyone.

BBC News has learned that the outage was almost certainly connected to
Pakistan Telecom and Asian internet service provider PCCW.

A leading net professional said the global outage was "probably a mistake".

Pakistan ordered internet service providers to block the site because of
content deemed offensive to Islam.

The BBC News website's technology editor, Darren Waters, says that to block
Pakistan's citizens from accessing YouTube it is believed Pakistan Telecom
"hijacked" the web server address of the popular video site.

I had the above as part of an apologetic email waiting for me this morning from one of our network partners. Our partners are saying they've introduced extra filtering to stop it affecting us, but it might take the rest of the UK a few hours to catch up.

well as you're on a PC you'll probably be OK but the latest release of Flash for the Mac (release 115) well and truly sucks.

The 1 '0 clock news announced that Pakistan have blocked You tube internet.
5pm, still stuck for me.

I reckon the world ought to retaliate and block all telephone calls out of Pakistan and ban their air flights from landing in countries effected by their actions.

BTW. nothing racial about above. The same should apply if it had been a European country.

I certainly will never have an internet financial account if the web can be blocked by anyone with a complaint.
