What's not to like about Farage? He helped to give the country what they wanted, right?Well it all kicks off in January, so we'll see what happens when it does.
I predict that we wont see the major cracks appearing for at least 2 years in the US economy, to the point Trump and his cabinet of(insert expletive) will be blaming all and sundry - Biden, the federal government, traitors in industry, things we've all heard before.
By year three the only chance Trump will have to keep anything other than the most fervent support is to engage in a full blown culture war, as they make the best scapegoats, and by year 4 even the right wing media, possibly under the weight of public pressure, and the fact they can no longer hide the created problems, and will start to show Trump in a negative light, then push for a new government, republican of course, but they'll want shot of him.
Of course the right wing media will accept no blame for their sycophant nature during the early years, and for the stories and lies they pushed to help make him president in the first place.
One thing I am looking forward to is the fact that just about anyone who has supported Trump has ended up in civil cases, bankrupt or in prison, and I for one really want to see Musk get it in the neck. He's been a blight on the web for too long.
Oh and farage. Though he's as slippery as a freshwater eel.
Not polarised enough. The i diot voices screeching against socialism are too loud - Democrats and Labour both too timid and have to explain their policies as being something else, until the whole point of their existence is lost.@Jacob I agree with most of what you say, I personally think that politics in both the USA and the UK has become far too polarised
with both sides losing / lost credibility in the eyes of the electorate. Like the UK, the USA was faced with voting for the terrible or the awful. Not a lot to chose between them, and again like the UK I suspect Trumps ratings will mirror Stammer and be near rock bottom after the first 100 days.
He hasn't given them anything and it's unlikely he ever will, except to make his fans more angry and feeling sorry for themselves. What's not to like about Farage? He helped to give the country what they wanted, right?
So a woman's right to decide what's best for her, at any particular time, isn't included in "the important stuff"it has very little of anything to do with women’s rights in the broadest sense. On the important stuff like equal opportunity, education, pay, promotion, voting etc
Was that a typo? The Palestinians, you mean the people who elected Hamas? You mean the people who actively support the Terrorists regime? The people who praised the invasion of Isreal? ....
Did the country want to impose economic sanctions on itself? What's not to like about Farage? He helped to give the country what they wanted, right?
Cognitive dissonance. So a woman's right to decide what's best for her, at any particular time, isn't included in "the important stuff"
Indeed, there’s quite a large number of Republicans than detest the man, especially after his coup against Kevin McCarthy, the last house speaker, which buried the ethics report on him. Some conservative Senators have been expressing doubt about Matt Gaetz and also interest in the information the House Ethics Committee has from its long-running investigation into potential ethical lapses by Gaetz. I may be wildly optimistic, but I'd like to think that's a signal that the Senate might not approve him. And surely there are enough Senators with military experience or at least respect for military practices to turn Hegseth down. It would be a lovely start to the Trump second term to have some of his nominations squelched.
Jacob, let’s get back to Trumps top team….before the thread gets locked! Was that a typo?
The Israelis invaded Palestine from a long way back.
Still are doing, clearing out Gaza which was a prison camp anyway, of people previously cleared from their own land.
Stealing land on the West bank, invading Lebanon, slaughtering lots of people indiscriminately, even killing the hostages they claim to be fighting for.
Half a nation gone berserk in a mad killing spree. https://www.aljazeera.com/program/n...consistent-with-genocide-according-to-un-body
Surprised you haven't noticed it's been in the news on and off since 1948.
You are not still reading the Daily Mail or ~Telegraph are you?
I think getting pregnant involves something other than immaculate conception…..Mary being the exception! If you don’t want a child, well, the answer is fairly simple. We don’t live in the dark ages, contraception has been invented. I think the argument is rather mute, you have a choice whether you get pregnant or not. Once you are pregnant, there are two sides who have very strong opinions and are never likely to come to a coherent agreed solution that satisfies all parties. The Republicans view, if I’ve got it right is that termination is allowed under very specific circumstances such as endangering a woman’s life, rape etc.So a woman's right to decide what's best for her, at any particular time, isn't included in "the important stuff"
Trump has effectively carried out a coup on the Republican Party, it’s now the MAGA party.Indeed, there’s quite a large number of Republicans than detest the man, especially after his coup against Kevin McCarthy, the last house speaker, which buried the ethics report on him.
No, you haven’t git it right……I think getting pregnant involves something other than immaculate conception…..Mary being the exception! If you don’t want a child, well, the answer is fairly simple. Tony the title of this thread is “President elects top team’I suggest you try peering closer to home and commenting on this bunch of gangbuster clowns instead of concerning yourself in the affairs of other nations
Thanks Noel, as I’ve said before, I’m a bit word blind and don’t see my typos and appreciate when they are highlighted so I can address and hopefully learn from them. No, you haven’t git it right……
Trump has no belief on anything, his only interest on pushing anti abortion is because A) it’s a divisive issue, so it’s a handy conquer and divide tool and B) he can use to get the fundamental Christian community. Thanks Noel, as I’ve said before, I’m a bit word blind and don’t see my typos and appreciate when they are highlighted so I can address and hopefully learn from them.
I’m fairly sure I’m representing the Republicans view, or more specifically Trumps view. He has made his personal views clear a few times, although he has I understand rolled back the narrative to ‘allow each state to decide’. Here is one source of many where his views that I reflected are given. If you have a source that can help my understanding and correct me if I’m wrong, it would be appreciated if you could link or at least highlight what the correct perspective is.

This is a strawman argument.you have a choice whether you get pregnant or not
I know what the thread title says. As I've said you appear to be obsessed with other people's business due to your own perspective on life.Tony the title of this thread is “President elects top team’
Tony, you need to get over it mate, the clowns you voted for over the last 14 years have been booted out. The U.K. now has adults in charge, taking the tough decisions necessary.
Tony youve spent the last 14 years voting for Tory and Tory Brexit, I’m sorry it’s been such a terrible terrible disaster, I realise how painful it must be for you for you knowing you’ve been wrong being right wing all these years.
Odd how fundamentalists are so concerned about the sanctity of life at one level but so reckless at another. Think of all the places where American bombs have been dropped since WW2, by USA itself or as supplied to their allies. Not to mention the insurrections they have encouraged and supported over the years.Trump has no belief on anything, his only interest on pushing anti abortion is because A) it’s a divisive issue, so it’s a handy conquer and divide tool and B) he can use to get the fundamental Christian community.
This is a strawman argument.
We all know people have a choice, but th reality is that young people have sex and women get pregnant.
Saying: “they don’t have to, does not change what happens. It never has and it never will
The reality is that making abortion illegal doesn’t lower abortion rates it just forces women to travel further or take risks.
Making abortion illegal affects poor people the most.
What it does is trap women into a life of poverty.
