Hello,

First of all, excellent forum, I wish I found this ages ago! And apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong section.

Can anyone assist, I've recently acquired a Powerline Band Saw Model No. BBS20 Mk II, and it needs a new blade. Can anyone advise where I can buy one, and can you confirm what length it should be? I measured, but I can't find anyone selling a blade for the length I came up with???

Many thanks,

Matt

I made it 58" but that was at maximum adjustment, so I reckon you're on the money.

Any idea what width of blade, if there's a range?

Many thanks,

Matt

The important thing is the blade thickness. for a 3 wheeler you need a thinner blade than a 2 wheeler for a given throat size.

I think the burgess ones (original manufacturers of your saw) use 0.014" blades?

Just checked on Axminster - 0.014" available in 57" x 1/4" and 3/8"

http://www.axminster.co.uk/product-Axca ... -1448mm(57)-x-0.014-35597.htm

Screwfix do a 56 1/2" x 1/2". not sure if the saw will be man enough to tension a 1/2" blade and I've not bee too impressed by SF blades in the past but not tried them recently.

Toolstation have 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" in 56 1/2"

You need a saw doctor.

Pick up Yellow Pages or go to Yell.com and look up 'Saw Suppliers and Services'.

These people generally stock bandsaw blade in big reels and weld individual blades up to order in whatever grade and length is required.

They also sharpen circular saw blades, planer blades, and router cutters.

Find a good local saw doctor and make him one of your best friends!

Cheers

Thanks all for the replies. I've got a blade on order. Am very excited as the saw came without one so I haven't had a chance to use it yet!! (is that a bit sad??)

Me again - sorry!

Blade arrived, got it all set up and it seems fine. However the blade guides (the little spinny-round grooved steel wheels that the blade runs though) are quite noisy, and run a little rough.

They're a little corroded, so I'd like to replace them. Any idea where I can get new ones for this model, or if another manufacturer makes some that are interchangeable?

Many thanks

They will almost certainly be standard ball races.

If you measure the diameter, the thickness and the size of the hole in the middle, I'll look up a supplier.

Normally buying these from the manufacturer is expensive.
