Finished the hair/scarf rings and pins today, rings are all from the red conifer wood, 2 pins are silver birch, 2 are hazel and 2 are from some scraps possibly from pallets. All sanded to 240 then waxed.

Folding shutters for 2 windows, of course they were not both the same size, nearly but not quite.

Made of Tulipwood and MR MDF, a great combination for painting. I've had my Domino since they first came out and it still feels like it's cheating every time I use it . I never used to see the point in the wide setting on the Domino, too much wiggle room I thought, but it does make sense if you make your own loose tenons 💡

My mitre saw has died so all the cuts were done on the panel saw, it's actually more accurate than the mitre saw which I guess is to be expected, must get that Fritz and Franz jig made.

All fitted okay, don't know when window boards stopped being a thing?

And they finished nicely level with the reveal, you would think it was planned.

A couple of (not very good) offerings today, a silver birch tea light holder type thing made from a length of branch with a crotch at the end

And second I offer for your critique a piece of c@rp made from an iroko board and a handful of crayons just because I've seen a couple of youtubers do it and I wanted to have a go, it wasn't quite as easy as I expected, removing the paper wrap and breaking into pieces is monotonous, the hot air gun melts the crayons fine but also blows the melted wax all over the place creating a huge mess, the wax doesn't flow into all voids and also does not set very level and finally, it's difficult to apply a finished to the wax because it's so soft even once cooled, but I've done it and who knows, someone might even buy it to hand on their wall as a piece of art 🤔🤔🤔

Sapele and Cherry box. First ever real project, First dovetails. I can glaringly see my mistakes but i am proud and want to do it again. Now!!
Great first box. Our own mistakes are always more glaring as we know where we made them
Looking forwards to the next one

This is a desk tidy box made as a leaving present. The Coloured panels are made from painted steel which is what person sold for 30 years. The painted steel is loosely bonded onto birch ply backing panels and is trapped all round by the rebate in the frame. The colours were chosen to represent Burnley FC which is his passion. Inside is maple veneer. Framing was some material I had lying around but think it is greenheart (which is horrible to work with. Dust and splinters

SWMBO was out for the day so once I had got my butt out of bed and had some lunch I headed out to the makerspace to see what could be created, first had a little tidy up then picked up a stick of Hazel and twig pot came to mind so I made 5 cute little ones from it, then I took an oak branch and made a bigger one, all sanded to 240 then given a coat of teak oil (Just because I've not used it in a while) I'm pretty happy with them, I've already listed the Oak one for sale but not sure if I'm gonna do the small ones separately or as a set of 5.
