It's interesting, people commenting on political threads should try it. Oddly, (I've done it over 12 or 13 years) I don't come out as right wing.

Looks like our left right bias is similar but I’m a bit freer with people being people. If anyone asked me though I would call my self a right leaning capitalist. But hey what do I know…

I don't know if the questions or propositions vary over time, but this time I was a bit more into the green than usual. It's quite a simplistic tool though as there is no middle ground between agree and disagree, but for some propositions I am neutral and for others I either have no strong opinion or am indifferent.

I'm in a similar spot to you.
The questions aren't very sophisticated, as you say, and I doubt it gets an accurate picture - because human nature.

Two up on the social scale, but right in the middle on the economic scale, I wonder what it means. 🤔

One way to shift society to the right would be to release a tool that suggests that right wing positions are actually in the centre.

(I could have used “left” instead of “right” in the previous sentence or “authoritarian” or whatever).

I've done this test before, years ago. As far as I can remember I'm still the same, slap bang in the libertarian left. As I recall, others on an internet forum just like this (motorbikes) did it and mostly got the same. As people here seem to be doing. Which probably means, from a British national's perspective, if you're not in the green you're probably quite right wing by our standards.

But it's been a while, and I totally stand to be corrected. And who knows about the veracity of any of it.

Yes, this.

I don’t hold much stock in the results. I’ve done this test several times over the years and my views haven’t changed. I believe the questions have though. This is my result this time, in all previous tests I’ve been roughly where I’ve placed the white star.

Though, over the years, I believe I have noticed a discernible difference between various members political opinions. No one, who has posted their results, seems to have fully escaped the clutches of the green rectangle. at the bottom left-hand corner. Including myself who is hovering around the middle of it. Which leads me to suspect that Genghis Kahn might not have made it very far into the blue rectangle.

I agree. I think in any given society you are likely to get a similar bias. In the UK we are generally pretty reasonable people, quite tolerant, and mostly inclined to live and let live. It will tend to libertarian. I suspect most people also have very middle of the road political leanings in practice where we would rather see coalition than the constant name calling and blame game we get now.
