hi guys, so im trying to cut out a shape in sheet mdf (for example, plunge cutting a housing for a sink) was wondering if there was a way of cutting right to the line without going beyond the cut line??

You will have to use a worktop jig set up correctly to achieve this -a quality jig will cost you around £80 which is expensive if you only use it once , alternatively you could use a decent jigsaw with a blade that cuts on the down stroke to avoid chipping the laminate or surface of your worktops -I personally use a jigsaw as it gives me more control and I don’t have to make several passes. I use Bosch progressor blades and mark the cutting line onto masking tape to further reduce the risk of chips ..

As Bm said jig saw with a good blade and etc.
In case you don't know simply drill a hole in the item to be cut say 2cm diameter (in the waste area inside the shape) then you will be able to put your jig saw in the hole holding it firmly to the surface be able to cut your shape. If you've not used a jig saw before a variable speed will help - start on slow speed. If thats the case practice on any bit of board to get an idea of the technique.
Take your time with - its not a race
