I am putting together a table of timber yards, with information from members who have actually visited the yards. Can you PLEASE HELP with information about Hoyle Hardwoods (Llangernyw, Nr Abergele) for timber/blanks?

(To VIEW the full list of yards click here)

(To ADD a new yard/s please post here after checking that it is not already in the table.)

Are they hobby friendly?

Can you self-select or is it by appointment?

Will they deliver?

Do they have online ordering?

Are prices displayed at the yard?

Do they sell domestic hardwoods?

Do they sell other hardwoods?

Do they sell softwoods?

Do they sell manufactured boards?

Do they sell turning blanks?

Are they a one-man-band or a small, medium or large yard?

Will they cut to length to fit in your vehicle?

Do you have any comments?

Thanks for your help,
Neil

I have visited Hoyle hardwoods near Abergele a few times. It is a one man sawmill with a good selection of local timber mostly hardwoods with some very good oak and interesting spalted , pippy and burl timbers. Most of his stock is air dried rough sawn wany edged in various thicknesses from 3/4" to 4" with 1/2 " jumps. Lengths are typically 8' to 16' .There is some kiln dried and machined stuff but I think that's to order. Stock is held in mixed stacks in a barn which he can talk you through and is happy to move with the forklift so you can select the planks. Prices seem reasonable but are not displayed. You will need to phone ahead to make sure he's there.
