we had a new ceiling put up yesterday, new boards as well, decided to have all walls skimmed (today), how quickly can I then have all painted with emulsion?

Mist coat yes, but if you have any doubt about viability of the paint, or its compatability with what you put over it, then use glue size. It seals and is almost colourless, gives a magic grip for paint. You can just slosh it on with little regard for brushing out, feathering, yada yada yada...

When the plaster is all dry (a lighter grey, pink, or white) then the all important slip or mist coat, 50/50 water and emulsion well mixed. And not silk for the slip coat. The paint WILL peal if you don't! Rodders

MMUK, nuffinck to do witH PVA, be nice to your supplier; a GOOD wallpaper shop will know exactly what I'm on about. Fortunately, it's straight off the shelf in Boo and Queue.....just add warm water and stir like a policiian on the opposition benches. It stinks, but it's good for sealing raw plaster!

Roger? Nice!! :D :D

Fair enough, not something I've heard of before, I normally use watered down PVA.

did a shop referb once, a mate did the plastering for a new ceiling, the owner wanted to open for business quickly, against my advice he and some family members painted the next day, never went back to see if it pealed.
