Hi all

any body own or has owned either of the following axminster ct 1520 150mm jointer and or the jet jwp 12 bench top thicknesser can you give me the low down on them be honest don't hold any thing back .hc

I've got the CT150, its a good machine, very quite, good dust extraction. I bought it and did it up after it had been neglected. Very fine cut with 3 blades compared to my 2 bladed previous machine. I may actually be looking to sell it as I need to free up some cash and for the foresable future don't have any need for a planer.

Hi chems

How old is it , any chance of a pic might be interested in it really depend on price ref where you are in the country i'm in weymouth Dorset. hc

I own both and for the money I can't fault them, although it would be nice if they were a bit quieter!

My only concern with the thicknesser is the dust extraction port. It's only about ~40mm and although it converts to 100mm hose it does have a tendency to get backed up with shavings and gets blocked if cutting wide boards. On the plus-side it came with a spare pair of blades.

The planer (jointer) was a bit of a fiddle to set up as I had to extend the slots in the base to give me enough slack to fit the belt. My only gripe - Axminster, if your watching, is the aluminium guard - you need to take a file to it as it has razor sharp edges!!

Saying that, it would be nice to have an 8" jointer that isn't double the weight!
