Hopefully this shows what you want.

The lathe is a Winfield, which I think is basically a Myford copy, although a very early Myford. There is some info about Winfields on lathes.co.uk.

Ed - that looks very good. I see you've incorporated the sharpening station into it as well. I have the Tormek and dry grinder on the same bench as the MW vice and the KIII with ss stuff on another. I could really do with organising all the sharpening stuff on one side of the door and the MW stuff on the other:

...on the other side of the door there's an identical bench with my sharpening station an pillar drill, so I guess with a bit of re-jiggling around a small lathe could be fitted - Rob

Yes..the Winfield is almost an exact copy of the Myford...that is like my ML1 I think...does it have one piece or two piece bearing covers?

This is mine so far...I posted it before here...it is laid out exactly the same...

I keep looking for a countershaft....I think the motor I have, though not original, is man enough. I forgot to search for "Winfield" - that is another option.

I bought this from Craft Supplies at Bradwell in Derbyshire. They have an amazing selection of woods. Mainly aimed at the turners, but in the case of handles and the like the sections they have ready prepared in the rack are suitable anyway. From what I understand Craft Supplies will get you pretty much any timber you like.

On a serious note... Is it possible to recondition the 'ways' on a metalworking lathe bed?

This is monstrously OT in a woodworking handtools - but, yes, it's doable.

You can either send it out, or do it yourself.

It's not easy.

I have seen (whilst googling for information on scraping) someone with a nice writeup of doing it, but I can't immediately re-locate it.
