Visited this place at the weekend - was a lovely day, and I wanted to give them a mention as it's run by volunteers and they rely on word of mouth for advertising.

They had a huge old saw mill in operation (the blade was about 3.5ft), an enormous stationary traction engine, woodturning demonstrations, a few classic cars, and loads of old stuff. Recommended.

It's only open a few days a year - see website for details.

It's pretty much only bank holidays that it's open, which is a real shame. I live just up the road from Pitstone and visited about ten years ago. From memory there was also a Lancaster bomber cockpit and a brilliant steam powered radio.

The watermill in Ivinghoe is just up the road too and tends to open on the same days. They grind local wheat there and sell the flour if you are into baking.

Other attractions in the local area are College Lake which sometimes has green woodworking displays and the Tring museum of dead things (a branch of the Natural History Museum with an amazing collection of taxidermy)
