Sorry George, I didn't meant to throw your topic off course. It was just a suggestion.

Here are some examples of the different sizes.

150px

300px

450px

I'd be interested to know if the 450px makes anyone's screen scroll left to right.

I personally like to see the larger size if possible, especially if it's a WIP. 150ps is a thumbnail.

i thought the issue was the loading speed of bigger pics say 450pix- its allot easier for me to do 450 pix pictures than it is thumbnail pictures- but the box thread has about 25 pictures thats gonna take a few seconds to load on a good speed connection and be slower to load than thumbnails

Wizer, a couple of years ago I had the problem of moving the posts from side to side I was like an Accordian player, some times I'd get Pi##ed off and leave the post altogeather. It was suggested to me that my 17" was not big enough, so I told Herself that as her Birthday was the first festivity to occur at that time I was going to get a 22" for the occasion and I've never looked back since.
So size does matter, the bigger your screen the less moving about you have to do. REgards Boysie.

Recently Jim (Lurker) posted that he was only just upgrading from dial-up. I was genuinely shocked, but I think he is\was in a very small minority. The pics at 450px are still of minimal file size and should only take milliseconds more than the 160px thumbnails.

Honestly, sometimes if I see a post with tiny thumbnails, I'll close it, intending to go back later and click through the links...but sometimes never remember.

Some people may still have small screens but at 800x600 resolution, you should still be able to see a 450px pic without left right scrolling. If you're using a lower res than 800x600, you need to get out of the dark ages ;)

I'd say at least go with 300px. But as you say, 450px will mean you won't need to muck about with the thumbnail code when making your post. Seems like a PITA all round to me.

Still, if anyone objects to any of the larger pic sizes I posted above then they should say and I'll happily shut my big trap. ;)

Wizer, up to 2 months ago I could not watch anything on youtube or would have to wait 6/7mins for a 2min. video, the same on this forum a series of pictures could take upto 7/8mins. to download. Two months ago a new company put up a mast in the area and now everything is perfect.
Depending where you live over here dictates your broadband reception. And a lot of people still have to use Dial up. They say by 2012 Ireland will have country broadband roll on. REgards Boysie.
