Hi I am looking to start turning pens and have been looking for a vice but don't want to pay £40-£50 for one Is ther any cheaper opions about?

is the vice for drilling the blanks?

You could make something, or do it on the lathe. I do mine on the lathe because my drill press is part way through being restored.

I made up a simple jig to go into my drill press vice to hold pen blanks.

The two dowel help to hold it in place and keep it all in line

I made a vice for the drill press and it worked fine but now I always drill on the lathe .
