Kitchen worktops would make an ideal solid surface for lathe. Stop it bouncing around.
It works for me! .. though the worktop isn't in the kitchen, tends to get wood shavings in the stew!

That's the beauty of the scroll saw - you can tell diners that the fine sawdust is 'seasoning' ;) .

Gill (who does have a scroll saw set up in the kitchen)

A bit of extra fibre never hurts!

As to them there lovely boxes .. sort of reminds me of when Sliver put the first rack and shelf above the lathe to hold 'everything' I needed in my little, well organised workspace .... my space has spread a bit and is very squeezed in!! could do with a bigger Igloo!

This afternoon I removed the tailstock end and tool rest (weighed combined 8kgs.)
Is there only one bolt to remove to drop off the electric motor?

And how much does that weigh?

Is it advisable to take off motor occasionally
Only the combined weight of 33kgs. the wife is moaning when I ask her to hold it up for me whilst I do the dusting.
