I am doing some work in the house and need some paint recommendations. I once tried a water based eggshell that was brilliant stuff, and could be mixed to any colour. I have since tried to get some more only to find it is no longer done so I tried the oil based stuff which was horrible. It took days to dry and would not get that eggshell feel. I went back to complain and was told that it takes a number of weeks for the finish to come out. Can any one recommend a paint that is durable and has an eggshell finish?

Dulux Diamond eggshell. Waterbased, quick drying ... and bl00dy expensive. Armstead is another very good one from the AkzoNobel stable - a fair bit cheaper.

Johnstones acrylic eggshell is a good product, I'm a deccie so I should know

Thanks all, I'm sure it was Dulux that I got the first time. It was really nice to apply. I forgot to mention I need it to be low VOC's

Try chalk paints, they are low VOC and come in eggshell finishes. Also some don't require primer

I found crown paints very good, particularly good if you have a local crown centre

This is the one I use. We've got a paint warehouse lthat does it at a reasonable price.
