Can anyone suggest a suitable paint system for an exterior door in Sapele? I have heard that one should use an aluminium primer. Does anyone agree with this?

It's one of those questions where you could ask 5 different decorators and you would get 5 different answers :roll:

Yes to aluminium primer on sapele but after that it is up to you. I think it's always best to stick with one brand if you go down the primer, undercoat, gloss route. As Aluminium primer is spirit based you will need to use spirit based for the next coats.

I personally like Dulux Trade Ultimate Opaque which gives a satin finish, you don't need an undercoat it will go straight on top of the aluminium primer. Can be mixed up in any colour.
