Both are cast iron.

The old-style Scheppach was steel plate, not aluminium.

It's worth bearing in mind that you would need a 16amp supply to run that Scheppach machine, although it's thicknessing capacities are also slightly greater. The AW106PT is also available badged as Fox and Charnwood, with the older aluminium fence (not that there's much wrong with this.)

I can't remember for certain but, as with the Axminster model, you also have to remove the fence for thicknessing on the Scheppach?

vinny - just to throw a spanner amongst the pigeons did you see this recent thread

i dont know a lot about these but in general terms id rather have a sedgewick than a jet or a schepach

Theres a large cat carrying a spanner right through the middle of the pigeons on his way to the works.............bugger

Cheers BSM (I think) Have pm'd corset.

I'd go for the new scheppach.

I think it will probably hold its value better and if you look after it never make less than £500.

vinny - i notice you are, like me, in wilts - if you get it but need help collecting feel free to give me a shout (I can usually borrow the work D22 and trailer for the cost of the deisel)

BSM. Thanks for the offer but I think i'm covered. I've a colleague who regularly travels down from that neck of the woods, he has an astra van which may be big enough (fingers crossed). If its not then I have a vauxhall combo which should be fine - just don't fancy the 7 hour round trip.

cool - i hope hes feeling strong , it should fit in an astra without to many problems but lifting it up to van cill height will be a ***** - the key is to remember not to lift it by the tables - stick a couple of bars through the thicknesser and lift it on those is the usual route.

we recently bough a sedgewick morticer and that baby was seriously heavy - it took three of us to move it into the workshop and we still havent managed to lift it upright, we are going to sling an engine hoist on the girders and use that - I doubt the p/T is significantly lighter as sedgies of all types are made properly with maximum cast iron.
