Hi folks,

I am making up some frames from 2"x1" to be covered with plastic for use as cold frames on my allotment.

I intend to join them with dovetail joints - good for practice, my question: is there a glue that will hold outside and last through the cold and wet weather? I have some gorilla glue, will that do it? or is this wishful thinking.

problem with gorilla glue with tight fitting joints like dovetails, is that it might blow it without practice in applying it.

how about titebond water proof, seems to be that is what it is designed for,
think it will be better than evostick water proof pva.

Extramite Powdered Resin Wood Glue
Extramite (formerly known as Cascamite) is a powdered adhesive which is mixed with water before use. A synthetic resin, it is waterproof when dry. An excellent well proven adhesive for joinery, cabinet work or boat building

hope this helps

The extensive use of Gorilla Glue in North America (and here) would leave me confident to say that it would suit this purpose. The expansive properties are not that powerful. gorillaglue.com would be best for this info.

Thanks
Martin

Thanks for the advice, since I already have some gorilla glue, I will try it, but Extramite Powdered Resin Wood Glue sounds a good bet, only where can I buy it, I dont think B&Q would stock it.

Stick with the Gorilla glue

A Polyurethane glue is your best bet, Extramite is an excellent adhesive but it can be brittle, not really ideal for a relatively thin softwood frame out in the garden IMHO.

TitebondII is not fully waterproof, for that you need TitebondIII but I'd still go for a P/U.
