Hi guys,

My son and I have a shared interest in hobby woodworking, and have gone a step further and set up a small website.

Hopefully it is self-explanatory, and has been really set up so we can continue to have a shared interest.

I have included a link in my signature block, and we would appreciate any constructive comments.

Thanks for looking,

Malc :D

Hi Malc
Nice site but thought you should know Zone alarm throws up a warning saying `Questionable site avoid entering sensitive data` based apparantly on how long the site has been around and the strength of its security certificate ??
Hope that helps
Steve

Hi,

Nice clear layout and dead easy to navigate. Wish more were like it.

Only criticism is the layout of the gallery. Its a bit of a drag working your way down a long list. Better I think, to break it into sections to make it hold the interest and keep to one screen rather than having to scroll down.

Looks good to me Malc,(not that i know anything about setting a site up that is) with some very nice looking work on display.
The dovetails look good, are they hand cut :?:
Good to see your son taking an interest in it all. =D> =D>

I noticed in the gallery a cheese board made from jarrah burr. Is this practical as the holes are likely to get food stuck in them making it a pain to clean?

Hi Guys,

Thank you for your comments, they are much appreciated!

Steve, I researched the site providers before I used them, and didn't get any security related issues, which was one of the reasons I used them. As it is a site just for viewing, and not inputting any data, I'm hoping it will be ok (bearing in mind I am to computers what the Kray twins were to community relations!! )

Shane, thanks, if it is good enough for you, it is good enough for me!!

Gus3049, I have passed on your comments re the gallery to a few people today, and the concensus was that actually they preferred it all on one page as they found it more hassle to keep switching pages than to scroll up and down. I thank you for your thoughts, and will review again after a few months.

Paul, it took us an evening to do the site, pretty much monkey see, monkey do, although I am extremely grateful to my wife who stopped the laptop being thrown through the window on a couple of occasions when it didn't do what I wanted (not what it was supposed to do!)
Yes, all the dovetails are hand cut, depending on which photo you look at determines how early on the learning curve they were cut.

Duncan, good spot! I applied Chestnut food safe finish to the top with a paper towel. It took 2 minutes to apply the finish, and 30 mins to pick all the bits of paper out of the craks with a cocktail stick #-o .
It is only occasionally used for food, mostly it stays on the table as a decorative piece. We think it is worth the extra bit of cleaning for the beauty of the wood.
