Hi all,

A few months ago, my mate Neil Heritage announced that he was going to have a little exhibition, and did I want to share it with him. Ooh, where would it be, I thought. Cheltenham? London, maybe?

Beeston Library, actually. Ah well. I'm not expecting a rush of orders, but you never know. A bag lady was eying up my chair as I left...

I've managed to lay them all out a bit better now. There was a library table in the way and all the furniture looked like it had just been dumped in the corner when I got there with mine. Even now it's quite a bit out of the way of most people who visit the library. Not ideal really. Still, you never know, see what happens. I hope Neil gets to hang his mirros up. They are quite nice but look a bit lost on the floor. The library staff were not keen on him getting his drill out...

Did you get the Library staff to stick those little magnetic strips on them just in case some bag lady takes a fancy and tries to do one with an item?

Oh I like that coffee table and I'd forgot about your chairs Steve, oddly I was thinking along those lines for when I get round to doing ours.

I read somewhere recently that Betty Norbury was selling her Cheltenham exhibition. Shall we have a whip round? ;)

Love all your items Steve 8) 8) 8) and
Neil's coffee table. 8) Great workmanship
from both of you. :) Hope it generates a
few sales for you.

Good stuff, Steve......I hope this does well for you. I really like the stand for the mirror.

I've often wondered if there was any mileage in a forum member's show somewhere......given enough notice I am sure there are enough people who could contribute enough quality items to make it worthwhile hiring a venue and doing some publicity. Given the geographic spread I guess there would have to be a number of venues......

Very nice Steve, fingers crossed for you. I do like those tall cupboards at the rear of the picture. Unusual design and very nice looking. I would like to know a little more about them.

Steve, I am suprised that you have not made more of your Workshop Essentials website and put some of your creations on show, it may even help the sales of the DVD's

Hi Steve

You know, I was looking again and again at the pictures and my conclusion was...

.......Yes, I can make...........

.....The legs of the coffee table...but that's would be my upper limit...

Really, beautiful creations, I hope that they will bring you guys many orders

Regards
niki

Thank you guys.

Wizer, I'm not certain about Neil's tall cabinets, but knowing some of his previous pieces, my guess is that the decoration is a mixture of oak, wenge, iroko and aluminium. Neil has had a "proper" training, and worked for "proper" companies doing contract furniture and veneering.

Martin, I've tried to keep my Workshop Essentials site separate from my personal site. There is a bigger gallery on stevemaskery.co.uk, but it's way out of date and I didn't know what I was doing when I wrote it, many years ago now, so there are lots of coding errors on it and it is sow and inefficient. If I were to re-do it it would be a lot less fancy and a lot more straightforward with less on it.

I really don't think it would have any effect on DVD sales though - the two target markets are very different. I'm not trying to sell DVDs to the public and I'm not trying to sell furniture commissions to woodies. That was my original reason for separating them. Anyway, whilst commissions are thin on the ground, and after a lean period of my small screen empire (!) I'm currently boxing up the round things as fast as I can for the Red Man. This week it's gone mad. Coupled with filming WE3 (which was originally scheduled for this Christmas and now I'm going to miss it :( ) I have quite enough Workshop Essentials work thank you! It never rains but it pours. If people only organized themselves to spread out a bit it would all be so much easier. :) Winter Vomiting Virus knocking out first Bob my cameraman and then me hasn't exactly helped either.

Again, thank you all for your kind comments, they are much appreciated.

All very nice - but I especially love the library steps!

Bummer - that's the one piece I didn't design! A very similar piece was published in Home Furniture magazine some years ago and this is my (very close) version of it.

But thank you anyway!

Off to bed, the WVV is still in its death throes :(

I think I will have to pop in Beeston Libary and check it out.
Shame we don't have a Notts woodworking group seems to be dead popular in the states etc. I would join but I am useless at organisation.

Are there any woodworking clubs in GB? I`d not thought of this type of club until Owen mentioned it, but when you think of the amount of turning clubs there are, there ort to be a few woodworking ones.

Steve how long does your exhibition run for? & do you know the library opening times?

The photos don't do justice to some of your stuff Steve!
The mirror in particular "in real life" looks far better.

I suppose I should ask how many there are of us around the Notts area that would be interested in a regular meet.
