well, we've only lived here 33 years.
Now this is REALLY crappy plywood. The top veneer was coming off as I was cutting it. It should have been cut from 3mm and slotted together, but I cut it from 6mm, cut one of the halves in two and glued it to the other.
I completely lose track of time, so I'd have to guess it took about 2 to 3 hours, but there's no denying I am very slow. It's stack cut - both halves were cut at the same time. I reckon someone more experienced would do it in less than an hour, though there's 37 internal cuts which slows it down a bit.
I enjoyed cutting it with all the curves, but my arms and shoulders ache like hell today.
The pattern was green, so I am guessing it was originally from a Hobbies pattern, but I've been wrong before. Not my own pattern though, I can't even draw my pension.
Eugene, I cut things mostly for something to do and because I enjoy doing it, so what I actually cut it from doesn't really matter. I think I just like moaning about the wood. The finished items are generally only seen by myself and my o/h and online as photos, and photos usually make them look better. The few that I make to give away are always made from better quality material.
Stack cut two pieces instead of cutting two seperately, then the slots can be cut to suit the thickness of the wood you use. Cutting one in half and gluing it to the other is easier. The pattern may need printing out at a larger/smaller size.
