ALF,

That is a wondrous saw, and it would need to be in light of the great package that you sent the other way. Mike must have taken a hunk from his fabled veneer log of bubinga to make that handle--it's just incredible. Is that the Kenyon pattern? Anyway, good fortune smiled on a very generous person.

Alf, you know what that saw needs don't you?

It's own dedicated space right in the middle of a tamboured saw till

I wonder if Alf would like to donate it as her contribution to Waka's competition :-s  :-k ......maybe not  ...... Backing away rather smartly from this screen  - Rob

You beat me to it! I was going to ask Alf the very same thing when I spotted your post. Do you think she will offer it as the prize? I think I might print out a piccy of it and glue it in my tool cabinet  It's about as near to the real thing as I'll ever get.

I must add this is my third visit to this thread, I do not need a new saw,I do not need a new saw,I do not need a new saw,I do not need a new saw,I do not need a new saw,I do not need a new saw,I do not need a new saw....
:)

P.S Curly Bubinga, variation on a Moulson handle, slotted back. Apart from knowing it was a saw, it was all a total surprise.

That saw is a wonder to behold Alf so beautiful
I did think that a saw of that excelance was what we could all expect at the bottom of the slope but then I realised there is no bottom to this slope only dreams,
enjoy yourself

Nigel

wow that is some saw - well done Alf you certainly deserve it. You'll have to change your location to 'drooling over dovetails somewhere in cornwall'!

Steve

you have both done it again, mike for making the b thing, and alf well
there will need to be an exclusion zone around your place before we all don masks and make our way down to saw hunt rather than grockle hunt

congratulations to you both

paul

Alf,
I love this curly bubinga, and a few months back when Mike posted a pic of another saw with it, I said it was the most beautiful saw I'd ever seen. Hm. Now there are two most beautiful saws I've ever seen. Pretty, pretty saw. May you split many a line with it!!!

I don't really go in for 'saw-****' but I have admist it looks a really lovely tool, with a lot of craft and skill in the handle, it's really lovely wood. Does Mike make pull-saws?

Thank you, Everyone, for the kind words.

Byron, not at this time. I have made one I use personally, and may just make them in the future.

I am still touched by Alf's thoughtful choices in gifts. It was and remains a high point for me.

Take care, Mike

It takes a lot for me to comment on hand tools, but that looks fantastic, Mike W you are a very talented craftsman

Alf and Mike

Damn, that's nice! I remember the saw well (it was posted here about a month ago-?). The combination of workmanship and wood took - still takes - my breath away. Well ... putting aside the green monster in me ... it's gone to a good home. I have to rationalise it this way otherwise I will never speak to the two of you again!

Of course there is a downside to owning such beautiful saws. They are downright dangerous - how does one avoid looking at the saw when you should be watching the cut line?
