Erm,

Im hoping no complete noob sees this and thinks the key is left in the chuck while drilling !!!!!!!

Have a look at the wire depth gauge on the 4th and 5th pics - I think a bit of tape around the drill would be a better pic to use in a tutorial

Its a Jacobs chuck in the tailstock :lol:

so if fitted properly should not go round

I have found that sometimes the drill can stick especially in wet wood and the chuck can then spin so I won't be trying this personally.

If you want to drill a 1 inch hole using a forstner bit then why not just put a bit of masking tape so the edge is 1 inch from the cut?

I do that with any drilling I have to do on the lathe and it works a treat 8)
